The KATSEYE WILD EP release lands as one of the more fully formed pop events of 2026: five tracks that range from Brazilian phonk-inflected maximalism to something quieter and more personal, accompanied by a documentary film, a late-night television debut and a global arena tour that sold out in under 48 hours. For a group assembled on camera and chronicled from audition to debut, the scale of what surrounds WILD is, by any measure, considerable.
The five-song project includes Billboard Hot 100 singles ‘PINKY UP’ and ‘Animal’, alongside ‘Hootie Frutti’, ‘Bel Air’ and ‘That Way’. It follows the group’s 2025 EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, which debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200. KATSEYE introduced ‘PINKY UP’ live at Coachella before ‘Animal’ followed as the second single.
Ed Sheeran, Demi Moore and the making of ‘Animal’
‘Animal’ carries a writing credit that raised eyebrows when it was first announced. Ed Sheeran co-wrote the track after, as he explained it himself, hearing KATSEYE’s ‘Gnarly’ in Mexico, becoming a fan and reaching out to the group directly about collaborating. The result sits comfortably at the centre of the EP’s commercial appeal. The track’s official video features a cameo from Demi Moore, a casting choice that underlines the kind of cultural reach KATSEYE have managed to accumulate at a pace few pop acts achieve.
‘Hootie Frutti’ takes a different tack entirely, pairing Brazilian phonk-inspired percussion with maximalist pop production. Its Alfred Marroquin-directed video follows KATSEYE arriving at an underground Brazilian party and reviving the night, a scenario that gives the production room to breathe visually. ‘Bel Air’ centres on the feeling of outgrowing something once loved, and closing track ‘That Way’ addresses power dynamics and desire, giving the EP a more reflective final act than its earlier tracks might suggest.
Target CD and vinyl editions, each featuring individual members, also include ‘Unloveu’, written and produced by Lara Raj with Amy Allen and Ross Golan, a track that sits outside the main five but adds a layer for collectors and dedicated listeners.
KATSEYE WILD EP release timed to a documentary and a world tour
The KATSEYE WILD EP release arrives alongside a significant expansion into other formats. KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS, directed by Nadia Hallgren, began a limited engagement after an 4 August premiere at The Grove in Los Angeles, with a full theatrical release following on 12 August 2026, according to Rotten Tomatoes. The film is screening in 1,700 cinemas across more than 60 countries and includes unreleased footage, EYEKONS fan videos and interviews with the group members.
The documentary context matters here. Times Union has reported that the group’s origins were documented in Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, an eight-part Netflix series that chronicled the process of assembling the group from a pool of aspiring musicians and dancers. The Netflix series established an audience already invested in the individuals behind the name, which partly explains why the transition to arena touring has been so swift.
That transition was confirmed when THE WILDWORLD TOUR sold out globally in under 48 hours. The run opens on 1 September at 3Arena in Dublin and includes two-night stands at The O2 in London, UBS Arena in Belmont Park, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. KATSEYE also recently headlined Hinterland in Saint Charles, Iowa, and Head In The Clouds in Pasadena, California, marking the group’s first festival-headlining appearances.
Television has kept pace. KATSEYE performed ‘Animal’ on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ in what was their first musical performance on a late-night programme. On 14 August, the group is scheduled to perform as part of the Citi Concert Series on NBC’s ‘TODAY’. These are not small slots.
The broader recognition has followed. In 2026, KATSEYE led Billboard’s ’21 Under 21′ list, appeared in Variety’s ‘Power of Young Hollywood Impact Report’, became Vanity Fair’s July ‘VANITIES’ subject and appeared on Allure’s June covers in the United States, Korea and the Philippines. Fandango notes that the group are also two-time GRAMMY-nominated, a detail that places the pop ambition of WILD within a formal critical context that the earlier Netflix series could not have promised. THE WILDWORLD TOUR opening night in Dublin on 1 September will be the next measure of where all of this lands in a room.
