Giant Rooks release The Big Night Out ahead of North American tour

Giant Rooks have unveiled ‘The Big Night Out’, the latest single from their forthcoming third studio album, If Heaven Exists, This Might Be It, due on 16 October. The track arrives as the German band build momentum towards a nine-date North American tour beginning in November.

A relationship at the edge of leaving

‘The Big Night Out’ takes as its subject the particular dread of a relationship beginning to unravel. The narrator watches a partner prepare to leave for Marseille and spends the song trying, with increasing urgency, to find any argument that might reverse the decision. The recurring plea, ‘tell me how I can make you stay’, carries the weight of the whole track: direct, unguarded, and honest about its own helplessness.

That emotional territory feeds into the broader shape of If Heaven Exists, This Might Be It. Across its 12 songs, the album examines connection, alienation, memory, love and friendship, a set of themes that have long given the band’s work its particular texture. The album follows their previous records Rookery and How Have You Been?, the latter of which reached No. 1 on the German album chart.

Giant Rooks The Big Night Out and the road to America

The single lands with the tour itinerary already confirmed. The North American run opens at House of Blues in Boston on 12 November, moves to Brooklyn Steel in New York the following evening, and then to Union Transfer in Philadelphia on 14 November. From there the band play Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club, Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl and Chicago’s Vic Theatre, before the run concludes at Toronto’s Opera House on 22 November.

The tour follows what has been a sustained stretch of live activity. In 2024, Giant Rooks completed their third sold-out North American headline tour, appeared as a special guest for Louis Tomlinson, and performed at Lollapalooza Chicago, Reading and Leeds, and Corona Capital in Mexico City. In 2025, they played two sold-out hometown shows in Hamm, Germany.

The numbers that sit behind ‘The Big Night Out’ speak to an audience built slowly and carefully across multiple continents. Giant Rooks have accumulated four billion combined streams and hold an RIAA Gold certification in the United States, achievements that reflect a fanbase with genuine depth rather than a single viral moment.

The Marseille scenario at the heart of the new single is, in one sense, a small domestic drama: two people in a room, one of them nearly gone. But that intimacy is exactly where the band have tended to locate their strongest material.
