Talking Heads Radio Channel Reunites All Four Members on SiriusXM

The Talking Heads Radio channel, launching on SiriusXM on 1 October, will bring together all four members of Talking Heads for the first time since a 2023 public reunion that itself broke more than two decades of collective silence. David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth will appear together in a rare conversation airing at noon ET on launch day, with the channel running on Channel 145 through 22 October and on the SiriusXM app through 31 October.

The occasion has been building quietly. On 28 September, the four will sit before a live audience at SiriusXM’s New York studios at 7pm ET for a Front Row Q&A hosted by musician Este Haim. Fans can submit video or voice messages through SiriusXM’s interactive submission page, and subscribers can enter for a chance to attend the event in person through 22 September, with no purchase necessary.

What the Talking Heads Radio Channel Promises

The channel’s offering extends well beyond the Q&A. Hits, deep cuts, exclusive stories and commentary are all scheduled across the run, alongside guest DJ sets curated from an eclectic selection of contributors. The Music Universe reports that those sets will come from Adam Clayton, Nate Mendel, The Linda Lindas, Tunde Adebimpe, Trey Anastasio and others, a line-up that suggests the breadth of musicians who count Talking Heads as a formative influence, spanning post-punk, grunge adjacent rock, punk revival and jam-band territory.

The channel also promises updates on upcoming projects from all four members. In Byrne’s case, that is a particularly crowded schedule: he dropped a surprise expanded edition of his latest solo album, Who Is the Sky?, with four bonus tracks, and his tour in support of the record concludes on 19 September in New York. His next book, Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up, is due on 6 October, with supporting events planned in North America and the UK.

A Reunion in Stages: From the Hall of Fame to Toronto to the Radio

To appreciate what this channel represents, it helps to map out how rarely Talking Heads have occupied the same room in public. Their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2002 was, for a long period, the last confirmed collective appearance, with a 1999 promotional appearance tied to the 15th anniversary of their concert film serving as the only prior exception. The gap that followed was long enough that their 2023 gathering at the Toronto International Film Festival felt genuinely weighted: the four assembled for a screening and Q&A around the 40th-anniversary restoration of Stop Making Sense, moderated by Spike Lee.

That Toronto appearance broke a silence measured in years rather than months. What the SiriusXM event offers is something different again: not a film premiere, not an awards ceremony, but a sustained, structured engagement with the band’s catalogue across three weeks, anchored by a conversation designed to let all four members speak at length about music they made together and separately since.

SiriusXM’s Front Row series has been running notable live Q&As throughout the year. The platform reports that this year’s Front Row line-up has also included the cast of Toy Story 5, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Olivia Rodrigo, placing the Talking Heads session within a broad programme of exclusive access events rather than treating the band as a one-off legacy booking.

The full four-member conversation airs at noon ET on 1 October. Whatever emerges from it, the radio format gives the band room to reflect at a pace that a film festival Q&A, however warmly received, cannot quite afford.
