Sound It Out's flagship inclusion project, Musical Connections, has been running successfully for a period of 11 years. Musical Connections is a network for isolated and housebound adults with specific needs, including those with physical disabilities and mental health service users.
The project uses creative music making to develop new confidence, ways of expression and social opportunities for vulnerable adults across the region. Participants work with professional artists to develop song-writing skills and create original pieces of music using a variety of instruments, initially on a one- to -one basis and, with support and encouragement, within a supported group environment. The project has gained a strong reputation for enabling participants to create and perform some fantastic new and original music and lyrics of a high quality.

Sound It Out have recently been successful with a Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities grant which will allow us to develop and expand this project, also providing training for volunteers and an integrated music residency for participants and their carers.
