Inclusion Strand

Sound It Out works with diverse communities of the region. For us, Inclusion is meant in it’s broadest sense – working with marginalized groups within communities, which may include refugees and asylum seekers, people with mental and/or physical disabilities, and others a relevant.

We have a big focus on integration with all our work, and where appropriate, integration may be a key aim of some of the projects you will be working on.

This strand of our work is the most diverse in terms of the communities and individuals we work with. The term inclusion encompassses a range of individuals and communities for Sound It Out. Our work in this area is particularly focussed on working with individuals and communities who are, or who feel isolated from mainstream society - whether through disability, ethnicity, age etc...'

This means that within this strand we have projects that work with people isolated from mainstream society through mental and/or physical disabilities, we work with Asylum Seekers, Refugees and with a range of others.

Over the past few years this strand has seen the success and expansion in particular of our work with refugees and asylum seekers (some of our recent projects are detailed).  In recent months our Musical Connections project, (see project description) has also received a huge funding boost to sustain and expand it for the next five years, so these two areas will dominate our inclusion strand of work for the immediate future.

Please read through our programmes of work below, and get in touch if you would like to take part, or work in partnership to develop further activity.
