Sound It Out has a long history of participatory work with young people, in particular through improvisation and ensemble (group) development work. We have been expanding our work over the past few years to develop and deliver more training focussed work.
in 2007/08 two of our key projects in the Youth Strand have been Elements Regional (an improvisation project working with six schools across Sandwell and Dudley), and Start Local (a training programme in partnership with two Birmingham based sixth form colleges and two High Schools). Both have had a huge success and we are planning their development.
We are always interested in developing new projects in our Youth Strand, but in particular this year we are keen to focus on engaging with young people to develop this area of our work. Through our VOLume project (VOLunteering Using Music to Engage) we have appointed a Youth Advisory Board who meet on a monthly basis. This team of young volunteers (aged 16-25) are helping Sound It Out develop and devise exciting new ventures.
If you are interested and enthusiastic about becoming involved on a voluntary basis please contact Sound It Out.
Please read through our programmes of work, and get in touch if you would like to take part, or work in partnership to develop further activity.
